Split Level Dining Room Transformation

I can't begin to explain the feeling when all your hard work and planning pay off! Our kitchen + dining renovation took months to plan and months to renovate but resulted in something that our family will cherish for years.

This post focuses on the dining room evolution - since it was a LONG one I decided to break them apart

When we bought the house the dining room was a formal, separate space and the kitchen had an eat-in space.

You can see in the before pics that the dining room wasn't too grand and even had saloon style doors blocking it off from the small kitchen space. This living room has also gone through quite a transformation but that is for another day 😀

You can also see in this photo the step-up into the dining room from the living room. A sunken living room was not on my "must have" list when looking for a home. We have learned to work with it but still have dreams of getting rid of it some day.

The small entryway into the dining room from the kitchen! I despised that light fixture so much that once that specialty bulb went out I didn't want to replace it since I knew I would replacing the whole thing very soon

A beautiful (😂) shot of the other side of the dining room wall that was about to COME DOWN!

This is the other side of the wall in the kitchen during demolition. It has been stripped of its cabinets and was ready to COME DOWN!

 Let there be LIGHT 💡🌞

Progress update:
Wall removed
Carpet up
Walls patched and primed
Trim removed
Ceiling scraped and painted

Found this little treasure behind the thermostat when we were demoing! These dining room walls used to be so fancy!

Progress update:
Wood flooring installed
All trim added and painted SW Snowbound (my fav)
Painted wall SW Repose (my fav)
Vent / Outlet update
New lighting fixture added!

Picking out lighting fixtures is really hard for me and this decision was not easy but I was very happy with the end result.

Found this beauty on Wayfair from Birch Lane - Mcmasters 5 - Light Kitchen Island Pendant

Here is the after pic before I painted the window white to match the trim.

Rug is from Wayfair - Brandt Oriental Blue Area Rug

It was not in the budget to replace the windows so this window got a paint refresh! SW Snowbound for the win!

Also, if anyone knows how and where you can replace those old window cranks send me a note!

Dining room remodel complete! I still have some work to do decorating this space but this now is a space my family wants to spend time in. It's welcoming and open and full of light. My kids spend so  much time at this table crafting, coloring, eating and homeworking.
