Bathroom Vanity Makeovers on a Budget
AFTER PHOTO
We didn't have money in our budget to replace all THREE of our outdated bathroom vanities so I went and purchased a a nice neutral color that I would be happy with in every one of our bathrooms and gave them each a much needed facelift.
Unfortunately, I don't have great before photos of these cabinets but you can see just enough in our home listing photos of what these cabinets looked like in two of our bathrooms. Each bathroom (and even our kitchen) all had the exact same cabinetry from the 1970's with this lovely brass hardware right in the center of each door.
I took off everything I could to sand and paint in the garage. What remained I sanded and painted in the bathroom but only the portions that were outward facing.
I gladly took off the very outdated hardware and promptly threw them away (BYE!). Since the handle holes were right in the center of each door I used Elmer's Carpenter's WoodFiller to fill in each hole. My plan was to move the handles to a more practical place on the cabinet door, the top corner. This is totally crazy, I know.
I chose a nice dark color paint so I wouldn't have to do too many coats - Sherwin Williams Black Bean.
I purchased new handles for each vanity for a total of $80 (14 handles)
In total this project cost me about $130 (paint + hardware) and each vanity took me a weekend to complete.
My next bathroom project on the list is new lighting and a DIY mirror upgrade for our main guest bathroom.
