Home Office Work Space
Since we completely gutted our split level basement we got to redefine the entire space and create our own areas within it in a way that truly made sense for our family. It took a pandemic to force me to define one corner of the basement into a home office work space.
Before we moved in our basement was a converted home business space. This built-in desk situation was not going to work for our family. Also, can we talk about the horrendous lighting!?
Demo took forever but soon we had it opened up. There was still a lot more work ahead in order to make this room livable.
Adding canned lights and lighter walls started to make the basement feel more welcoming. At this point we still did not have a specific plan for that corner spot.
This is the moment we realized that what had become the kids toy overflow area now needed a more functional purpose and bought a desk to fit the space. @Wayfair for the win! It still lacked that "home office space vibe" but we were getting closer. My assistant couldn't wait to get to work 😜
After going all in on making this office space legit and adding some obligatory office #wallart we finally had the home office we needed for this new work from home world we all live in.
I just love making small spaces more functional and know we will use this in the years to come with kids in school and work from home a more consistent reality.
